Abigail Brower is a dynamic orchestral and solo performer based in Eastern Iowa. As acting Principal Harpist with Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony in Cedar Falls, IA since 2022, she has joined the ensemble in performances including Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra, Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert. She has recently performed Taylor Scott Davis’s Magnificat and joined the Cornell College (Iowa) Chamber Singers as guest harpist. She has played under the baton of such esteemed conductors as Cristian Măcelaru (Orchestre National de France and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra), Tim Hankewich (Orchestra Iowa), Thomas Wilkins (Music Director Laureate of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra), and Lloyd Butler (Celtic Woman).
Having received her Bachelor's degree in Harp Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Abigail regularly performed with university orchestras and ensembles and with multiple Southern Indiana music ensembles. She also provided private lessons to students of all ages. In 2015, she received an Honorable Mention in the US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Young Artist Competition, earning the privilege to perform alongside the US Army Orchestra and fellow competitors. Abigail has been plucking her way into the hearts of her audience since the start of her training in 2007. Abigail spent more than three years under the tutelage of Professor Elzbieta Szmyt and received a semester of education with Anneleen Lenaerts, principal harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic. Holding a Master of Science in Performing Arts Leadership and Management from Shenandoah University, she dedicates weekdays to her role in non-profit development for a local performing arts organization. Beyond the stage, Abigail is available to add a captivating musical touch to private events including wedding ceremonies and receptions, cocktail hours, holiday parties, and other social gatherings in the areas surrounding Iowa City and Cedar Rapids and throughout the Midwest. |
